James A. Beverley is Associate Director of the Institute for the Study of American Religion in Santa Barbara, California and a Professor at Tyndale Seminary in Toronto, Canada. He is a contributing editor to Christianity Today magazine, and a frequent contributor to Faith Today and Charisma magazines.

He is the author of ten books including Holy Laughter & the Toronto Blessing, Christ and Islam, Islamic Faith in America, and the forthcoming Nelson's Illustrated Guide to Religions. Professor Beverley has been an expert witness in both civil and criminal trials involving new religious movements and he has taught in Europe, India, Africa, South America, and throughout North America.
